We’ve been teasing for many weeks… and now it’s finally here. UTR Media has debuted the launch of their new playlist Heart, Soul, & Mind on Spotify. If you are thinking “Wait a minute! Isn’t UTR boycotting Spotify?” We had some really deep and fruitful conversations with several artists and decided to reverse our decision. Instead, we are going to embrace the platform as another way to build community and help people rediscover their soul-connection to music.
Our plan is to update this playlist about once a month, so visit the playlist directly and click FOLLOW now so it’s easy-to-access on your account. Besides over 3.5 hours of gourmet music, this playlist is also the debut of UTR’s new short feature Backstage Minute. No one other organization (that we know of) are making playlists with branded content! [Also, our playlist is best enjoyed listening in order instead of clicking shuffle.]
Each month, we will post some Curator’s Notes about the current playlist, and we’ll list all the tracks.
CURATOR’S NOTES – PLAYLIST 01 (SEPT 2018)
One thing we plan to be intentional about each month is sharing a good mix of some gourmet music fan-favorites and some artists that might be brand new discoveries. However, for this debut edition, I’m going to focus on the name we chose for this playlist. There is a certain art to naming a playlist – it can’t be too wild & whimsical, but just a descriptive phrase can feel boring. Truth be told, the name of this playlist changed at least 8 times over the last month. So why did we land on Heart, Soul, & Mind?
The phrase (and order of these words) comes direct from Matthew 22:17 – “Jesus replied, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'” We also think these are good words to describe the music we will feature each month. These are songs that are are crafted with such skill, they can connect with people emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually – often all of these simultaneously. And here’s the beautiful thing, folks in every walk of life are hungry for things that have a heart-soul-mind connection – including people who have yet to begin their walk with Jesus. Our prayer is that this playlist is an encouragement to folks who already love gourmet music, a connection point for folks who might not discover UTR’s music ministry on a different platform, & a way for artists to be served as we share their songs.
