We are in a decidedly divisive time in our culture. Obviously a major election will bring a lot of “us vs. them” mentality to the surface, and this year it’s only exacerbated by a global pandemic and social unrest. Music is a unique vehicle that can pull people together. And music that points people toward a posture of gratitude might be an agent of peace, calm, and civility. In fact, Jesus’ teachings points us to the “Kingdom of God,” which is not an earthly, partisan platform. It’s much bigger and much deeper – and it encompasses not just republicans and democrats – but also all governments and all movements in all nations. He holds it all in His hands. “Therefore, since we are receiving a Kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful.” (Hebrews 12:28)

Music is more than entertainment for me… it’s medicine, it’s therapy, it’s inspiring. Another thing that is true medicine for the soul is gratitude. It’s not one of the Fruit of the Spirit. Thankfulness is a choice you can make. I need music like this to remind me to not to take for granted all the ways I am blessed.
