Reformer Martin Luther once wrote, “As long as we live, there is never enough singing.” Music gives language to the deep stirrings of the soul – and we desperately need it to help us process life and give a way for our emotions to experience alignment.  We are so thankful for the songwriters who pushed past their writer’s block, the musicians who stayed true to the song in their heart (even at the expense of ‘commercial’ success), and the artists who didn’t give in to the self-doubt and discouragement they face regularly.  Because of their tenacity and perseverance, we have this playlist of songs.  These are meant to encourage our heart, soul, & mind… and to be a source for emotional re-alignment.  We hope they help you “rediscover your soul-connection to music.”

CURATOR’S NOTES  (HSM FOR JAN-FEB 2020)

What are some of the goals I have when putting together a new playlist?  I’m glad I asked myself.  This may disappoint you, but the songs on UTR playlists are NOT picked out by robots, wizardly algorithms, or throwing darts at an extensive song list on the wall (….although now I want to try this last one).  My personal hope is that you find some artists and songs that feel like “home” to you… add in some newer, younger artists who might be brand new discoveries…. plus be intentional about diversity — including sounds, themes, genres, and minority representation.  I hope UTR continues to be a trusted resource for you to plug into a world of music that deserves all the attention we can muster, because we believe it’s the most meaningful music being made today.  [Special Note: At the last minute, we added the song “21 Years” by TobyMac to the playlist, which just released a few hours ago… a touching single about the lost of his oldest son Truett in October 2019.]  —  Dave

UTR’s HSM PLAYLIST NOW ON AMAZON PRIME MUSIC!

Thanks to listener Jason Todd in S.Carolina, the “Heart, Soul, & Mind” playlist has been rebuilt and is now available on Amazon Prime Music.  The search function is a bit wonky, so use the link and then click on “Follow Playlist” and it will show up under “My Music.”  We’re excited that even more ears will be enjoying UTR playlists.  FYI…. the 24 Hours Gourmet Music Playlist is on APM as well.
