Music can take on a variety of forms – background noise, dance beats, corporate worship, community anthems. We have planted our flag on “gourmet music” (meaningful, well-crafted, faith-inspired songs) because we have always seen it as good medicine for the heart, mind, & soul. In this crazy season of the Coronavirus pandemic, we feel the value and need for music that feeds our souls and awakens our heart for God. This new HSM Playlist has taken on a deeper importance and these songs were carefully curated for this time we are in.

CURATOR’S NOTES – HSM #10
A lot of the music I had been listening to in February and March were in the theme of “lament” or sorrowful songs, mainly because I (like all of us) were grieving over this moment in history that we are all walking through together. Yet, like the laments of the Psalms, they nearly all lead to a place of proclamation, trust, and renewal. For this reason, I found myself drawn to songs that carry one (or both) of these two themes: HOPE in God’s grace and JOY in the midst of trials. My prayer is that as we continue to grieve, lament, and adjust in the middle of a pandemic, these songs will awaken our spirits to shine even brighter in these dark days.
