The classic hymns of the faith are so important to many of us. They taught us about God before we could read or write. They anchor us when life seems turbulent. And from an art perspective, the poetry and melodies are often timeless – already proven by the test of time. On this playlist, we are enjoying over 50 classic hymns – with no repeat songs or artists.  As you’ll hear, many of the artists have put their own fingerprints on these songs and have allowed us to celebrate these timeless lyrics in a fresh, new way.

CURATOR’S NOTES  (SM MAY-JUL 2020)

I have always had a soft spot in my heart for old hymns, and it’s fair to say that they have been soul-shaping in my understanding of God, theology, and the Gospel. I had three main criteria when picking songs for this list: no artist repeats, no song repeats (we don’t need 7 versions of “Come Thou Fount” on one playlist), and a good variety of up-tempo, modern, pensive, and heartfelt (we wouldn’t be serving you well if the entire playlist was sleepy funeral dirges). We hope these songs are refreshing to your faith and a reminder of God’s love and faithfulness during this unusual season in our world.
