Jesse Jack Murray is a Florida-based singer songwriter, but a big part of his story comes from elsewhere in the country.  He spent much of his childhood growing up in Native American communities, and still now has a deep compassion for the struggles and plight of Indigenous Peoples.  He now shares his heart through songwriting, and on 11/22/19 will be releasing his debut solo album (in partnership with Renew The Arts).

October 14th is Indigenous Peoples Day, and on this day, Renew The Arts releases the first single from Jesse Jack Murray.  “Trail of Tears” is a gripping song in the vein of 60s/70s protest folk music, and calls us to a collective repentance for the racist atrocities done to Native Americans.  The Trail of Tears was the implementation of the Indian Removal Act of 1830, authored by President Andrew Jackson, in which over 16,000 Indigenous Peoples were forcibly relocated to lands west of the Mississippi River.  Approximately 25-30% of those natives died during the relocation process.  In the new single “Trail of Tears,” Murray reminds us that this is not just a piece of history in the distant past, but something that should shake us to the core today.  “Let’s not forget the game we play is a game of inches/ Life is short, life is long, it all depends on who’s the victim/ And everything we say or do, you know, may still be used against us/ When the Judge of every nation calls upon their blood to witness.”
